The house

Inside the house.

The Howard Hughes Estate is a historic Los Angeles house of real architectural character: white stucco and tile, beamed ceilings, arcaded loggias and tiled courtyards, set above the fairways of Wilshire Country Club with the Hollywood Hills and the Hollywood Sign in the distance. It has not been modernised into anonymity, and that is the reason to stay here.

Inside, the rooms are generous and full of period detail — long living rooms with fireplaces, a library, a games room, a bar and a dining room that opens to the terrace. The expansive primary suite takes the view over the golf course and the hills. Outside, a long heated pool sits on the lawn, with gravel courtyards, mature gardens and shaded seating around the house. It accommodates up to fifteen guests and takes stays of a month or more.
